The course HS 404 Global Health and Community Development takes place during summer session III and the study abroad to Nicaragua takes place between August 1- August 15, 2015.The class will meet on-line to discuss readings on global health, community health practices and community development in Nicaragua. Pre-trip meetings on the UI Campus will begin shortly after students are accepted into the program. The trip is limited to 12 students. The study abroad leader is Professor Helen Brown, Movement Sciences. This is Helen’s fourth time to Nicaragua and her third trip with students. Our In-Country Host Organizations are CEPAD, a Faith based community development organization and Fundacion Aprender, a non-profit dedicated to improving education and quality of life for the Las Salinas Community. Aprender founders, Gabriela Prado and James Womack own and operate Eqilibrio Yoga Retreat and Art Center, our primary home base.
